Jared Jaskot, who is originally from Killarney, Florida, is the owner of our firm. He graduated with a philosophy degree from the University of North Florida, and went on to receive his JD from Georgetown Law. From 2002 to 2004, he lived in Canton La Estancia, Moncagua, San Miguel, El Salvador, while in the Peace Corps.

Jared has been practicing law for eleven years, and started his career as a public defender in Baltimore City. After a few years as a criminal defense attorney in private practice, he realized that the majority of his clients needed more help with immigration law than criminal; because immigrants rarely commit crimes. In his free time, Jared likes to cook, walk his dogs in Patterson Park, read fantasy books, do yoga, and build Legal Chatbots through his other project, YoTengoBot​.

Emily Jaskot

Emily Jaskot, practices Personal Injury, which focuses on clients that have been injured in automobile accidents. She is originally from Bloomsburg, a small town in northeastern Pennsylvania. In 2001, Emily obtained her Bachelor of Arts in History from Johns Hopkins University. She then went on to complete her Juris Doctor, and graduated in 2011 from the University of Maryland, School of Law, ​cum laude​. She also lived in El Salvador from 2002 to 2004, while she served in the Peace Corps.

Emily decided to become an attorney to serve her community, and to help people resolve legal conflicts in their lives. For that reason, she also trained as a mediator during law school. Her favorite part of being a lawyer is being able to advocate for those that don’t always have a voice. Also, she really enjoys that her law degree gives her the ability and training to work in a number of different fields.

Apart from being an attorney, Emily also owns Ornamental Nature, which is an urban container gardening business. She designs, installs, and maintains container gardens, and other small gardens for Baltimore residents and businesses. Her focus is on native plants, and sustainable, ecologically-friendly horticultural practices.

Eva Cockerham

Eva Cockerham is the managing attorney of our immigration team, and comes from our great city of Baltimore. She began her studies with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary/Middle Education from Frostburg State University. Afterwards, she went on to complete two master’s degrees; in reading disability, and administration/supervision, from Frostburg State University as well. Eva worked as a reading specialist from 1994 to 2002. Even though she was always interested in law, she believed that becoming an attorney was an impossible dream due to her upbringing in a low/middle class family. However, after the legal misfortunes of a few family friends, and the advice of a trusted professor; Eva applied to law law school. With the offer of a full- tuition scholarship, Eva went on to obtain her Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore, School of Law.

Eva began her law career as a criminal defense and family law attorney. After some time, she noticed that the needs of her clients extended far past criminal defense and family law cases. For this reason, she decided to begin practicing immigration law. Eva feels that being an immigration attorney gives her the opportunity to make a notable difference in the lives of others.

Eva is also the extraordinary mother of two boys. From 2002 to 2009, she home schooled them, all while teaching GED classes in the evenings. She even served as the administrator of the homeschool umbrella and cooperative in which her sons participated. In her free time, Eva likes to spend time with family, read, play the piano, and watch British network programming on TV.

Luke Frazier

Luke Frazier is an immigration attorney, and the newest member of our team. He grew up in Calvert County, in southern Maryland. Luke graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Affairs and History. He went on to obtain his Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland in 2015.

Luke decided to become an immigration attorney because his mother and various family members are immigrants. He uses his passion for solving complicated problems to help people just like those relatives whom he so deeply respects. Luke’s focus is on complicated immigration cases. He loves to take cases for detainees, people with deportation orders, and cases that have been attempted unsuccessfully by other attorneys. It makes sense that his favorite part of being a lawyer is winning a difficult case.

In his free time, Luke likes to play pool, poker, and table-top games. He also likes to do improv, and go on long walks with his dog Boomer.

Ana Zigel is an attorney on our team in charge of handling initial consults. She originally comes from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and has lived in the Baltimore are since 1964. Ana obtained her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 1978. Afterwards, in 1983, she went on to obtain her Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore. She began her law career working for Legal Aid in their immigration department, and in 1986 she opened her own firm.

Ana joined our team in June of 2019. With her, she brings 35 years of experience in a plethora of topics and case types. She tells us that her favorite part of being an immigration attorney is the clients.

When she isn’t working, Ana enjoys reading, traveling and doing Crossfit, which is a style of exercise that combines various sports and activities.

Liam Walsh-Mellett has worked on our team as a paralegal since July 2017. Liam grew up in Mount Rainier, a town located in Prince George’s County, very close to Washington DC. In 2015, Liam graduated from Tufts University in Boston Massachusetts, with a degree in American Studies. Before becoming a paralegal, Liam worked in kitchens for several years, thus improving his fluency in Spanish.

Liam began working in immigration law because he believes that no human being is illegal, and that borders should not exist. He hopes that his efforts with our clients can be small steps to a world without borders. What Liam likes the most about his work is the power to use paperwork and “magic words” to get people out of the hands of ICE.

Liam lives in northeast Baltimore with his boyfriend, friend and their cat named Versace. When he isn’t working, Liam enjoys riding his bike, working on home improvement projects, dancing, singing karaoke, and cooking extravagant meals for his family and friends.

Sarah Ochoa is our marketing manager. She is originally from Eldersburg, Maryland, which is located northwest of Baltimore, in Carroll County. Sarah grew up in a bilingual family from Camaguey, Cuba, and is fluent in English, Spanish, and Russian.

At the beginning of her professional career, Sarah worked in the auto insurance industry , where she worked closely with the Latino Community. After a few years, she found another position selling health insurance. She worked as a health insurance agent for a year and a half and was then promoted to sales manager. Sarah maintained her position for three and a half years, and after time, realized that she wanted more.

Her favorite part of working for Jaskot Law, is the ability to open the door for those who are seeking a better life. She profoundly believes that everyone deserves a second chance.

When she isn’t working, Sarah likes to travel, learn languages, dance (bachata is her favorite), play the piano, read, swim, and spend time with her son Rey.

Legal Secretary

Elizabeth Serrano (Liz), is our legal secretary. She is originally from Los Angeles, California, and has lived in Maryland for two years. She moved here to live with her family.

Liz has worked in the legal field for more than 30 years. During her career, she worked in legal offices for attorneys that specialize in personal injury, criminal defense and immigration. Her first job in a legal office was in Marina del Rey, California as a receptionist. Her favorite part of working for Jaskot Law is helping those that need a voice and knowledge of the legal system; regardless of whether the case is criminal, personal injury, or immigration. When she isn’t working. Liz likes to watch movies, and spend time with her grandchildren.

Diana Ramirez joined Jaskot Law as a paralegal in December of 2019. She is originally from the Bronx, New York, and moved to Maryland in elementary school. Diana graduated from Notre Dame of Maryland University with a major in Liberal Arts, and minors in Religious Studies and Peace and Justice Studies. Currently, she is attending the University of Baltimore Law School and is expected to complete her Juris Doctor in May of 2023. Diana states that she would like to become an attorney to keep families together and to help her community have a voice in the future.

So far, Diana states that her favorite part of working for Jaskot Law is feeling that she is making a difference. She enjoys helping people to have a say in how their future should be. When she isn’t working, Diana enjoys traveling, watching scary movies, and attending music concerts.
